Dr. I.B. Usoro
Dr. Usoro is a seasoned attorney, Texas Bar member, and accomplished businessman, with an extensive legal career that has shaped his leadership in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Holding a Juris Doctor with Summa Cum Laude honors from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Texas Southern University (TSU), Dr. Usoro’s legal expertise spans oil, gas, and debt recovery transactions, initially honed at Clifford Abel and Associates. He also clerked for Judge Lamar Mccorkle of Harris County’s 133rd Judicial District Court.
His early leadership roles as President of the Student Bar Association and appointment to the Law School Admissions Committee marked him as a standout in the legal field. These foundations propelled his success as the principal partner of Bren Usoro & Associates (now Usoro & Associates), where he has managed clients’ funds in excess of $2,000,000 annually.
Dr. Usoro’s legal acumen led him to significant oil and gas transactions, including handling deals between a U.S. company and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, sparking his investment interests in the energy industry. As President and COO of Crystal Pipeline and Chemical Products Ltd., he drove multimillion-naira projects for leading companies like Chevron and Shell, before founding Miden Systems Limited in 1997. Under his leadership as Chairman, Miden Systems has grown into a full-fledged marine services and logistics company, serving major oil and gas clients, including Shell, ExxonMobil, and Nigeria LNG.
He was appointed to the Presidential Policy Advisory Committee by then President-elect Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, contributing to the creation of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He continues to inspire the next generation of leaders, fostering impact both in law and business.
